The Campaign for Home Energy Assistance has been an active advocate for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and the people it serves since 2007. Our job--and our duty--is to help Members of Congress understand the vital importance LIHEAP has for millions of Americans.

People should not go broke heating their homes.
— Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Paul Ryan

What is liheap?

LIHEAP is a federal program designed to temporarily assist households who cannot afford to pay to keep their utilities on. More than 6 million American households received help through the LIHEAP program each year. Each of those families--plus the millions more who could not receive help because of low funding--is at risk under the current proposed Federal budget cuts to the program.
